How to connect

Everything you need, from download to logged in.

1

Make an account

Your website account is your game login. It's free and takes a minute.
Create account
2
Get a 3.3.5a client

Already have a Wrath of the Lich King 3.3.5a (build 12340) client? Skip to the next step. Otherwise download one:
- Google Drive: the ChromieCraft client, or the Ultimate WotLK Graphics Boost one if you want it prettier.
- ChromieCraft downloads: the same client, plus an optional HD patch that works on either.
Unzip it into a new folder, for example C:\Games\WoW, and delete the zip afterwards. Avoid Program Files: Windows blocks the game from writing its settings there.
3

Add our patch

Download the patches marked Required and put them in the Data folder: the one with the enUS folder in it, not inside enUS. Keep the file names exactly as they are; if your browser added "(1)" to a name, take it off.

Server Patch Required patch-U.MPQ · 56 KB Adds the Hardcore, Semi-Hardcore and Ironman titles, and is needed to fly in zones that normally block flying. Without it the titles show up blank.
Download
4

Point the game at our realm

Open Data > enUS (or enGB, deDE... whichever language folder you have) and open realmlist.wtf with Notepad. Delete everything in it, paste this line, and save:

set realmlist realm.nutzeroth.com

Can't see .wtf at the end of file names? It's still the right file: the one called realmlist.
5

Clear the cache and play

Delete the Cache folder next to Wow.exe (the game makes a new one), then start Wow.exe and log in with your account name and password.

Start the game with Wow.exe, not the launcher: a launcher may try to update the client and undo the patch.

Something not working?

"Unable to connect" or stuck on "Connecting"

Check that realmlist.wtf has exactly the line from step 4 and nothing else, and that you saved it in the language folder (Data > enUS), not in Data. Also check the top of this site: if the realm shows offline, it's restarting and will be back shortly.

"The information you have entered is not valid"

The account name or password is wrong. Log in with your account name, not an e-mail address. Forgot it? Use Restore password under the sign-up form.

Titles show up blank, or I can't fly where others can

The patch isn't loaded. Make sure it's in Data (not Data > enUS), the file name is unchanged, and you deleted the Cache folder.

The game asks to update, or says "version mismatch"

You need a 3.3.5a (12340) client. Download one from step 2 rather than updating the one you have.

The camera stutters

Set your mouse to a 125 Hz polling rate and turn off the hardware cursor in the game's options. If that isn't enough, right-click Wow.exe > Properties > Compatibility, and run it in compatibility mode for Windows 8.

No optional patches yet. Extras will show up here.

Patches go in the Data folder (the one with enUS in it, not inside it). Keep the file names as they are, then delete the Cache folder next to Wow.exe before you log in.
