What makes it different

Nutzeroth is Wrath of the Lich King 3.3.5a as you remember it, with a few things on top:

  • Challenge modes. Hardcore, Ironman and more, picked per character at level 1. See Challenge modes.
  • Weekend bonus. 2× experience, gold, reputation, honor and skill-ups every weekend, from your time.
  • World bosses and invasions. A boss on weekends and Scourge attacks on towns during the week. Everyone who helps gets gold by mail.
  • Rewards for showing up. A daily chest, a bounty board of small tasks and a weekly goal the whole realm works on together.
  • Flying where you normally can't. With our patch you can fly in zones that usually block it.
  • A living world. Bots fill the quiet hours, so there is always someone in town and in a group.

Your first hour

  1. Make an account and connect. Create account, then follow How to connect: a 3.3.5a client, our patch, and the realmlist.
  2. Make a character, then stop at the Shrine of Challenge. It stands near the graveyard of every starting area. Challenge modes can only be chosen at level 1 (55 for Death Knights), so decide before your first level-up. Playing without one is perfectly fine.
  3. Play to level 10. From then on that character can receive the daily reward.
  4. Come back to the website. Log in with the same account to collect the daily chest, see your bounties and look yourself up in the Armory.

Challenge modes

Optional rules for one character, chosen at the Shrine of Challenge at level 1. The shrine explains each one and asks before it applies anything. Several can be combined when they don't clash.

HardcoreOne life. If you die, you stay dead as a ghost and your name goes into the Hall of the Fallen, with a notice others can light a candle on. Comes with a title, and another at level 80.
Semi-HardcoreYou can die, but each death costs everything you wear and all the gold you carry. Titles as with Hardcore.
IronmanThe classic Ironman rules: no deaths, and none of the usual helpers. Its own titles, too.
Self CraftedYou may only wear gear you made yourself.
Item QualityOnly white and grey gear.
Slow XP / Very slow XPHalf, or a quarter, of the normal experience.
Quest XP onlyExperience from quests and nothing else.

Hardcore heroes who die to another player put that player on a Wanted poster, and anyone can put a bounty on their head.

Every day

Daily rewardA chest by mail, once a day, for one of your characters of level 10 or higher. You choose who gets it. Collect on several days in a row to build a streak; now and then the chest is a rare one. Daily reward
Bounty boardThree small tasks a day and three bigger ones a week, counted across all your characters. Each pays gold, from 10s at level 1 to 2g at level 80 for a daily task, and finishing all three adds a chest. One daily task can be swapped. Bounty board
The ChronicleThe realm's own newspaper: who reached level 80, who fell, records broken and dungeons cleared. Do something notable and you are in tomorrow's paper. Today's paper

Every week

Weekly goalThe realm votes on a set of tasks, then everyone works on them together. Help out and your daily chest pays more all of next week: up to +110% when every task is done. This week
Weekend bonus2× experience, gold, reputation, honor and skill-ups, all weekend. The bar at the top of the site counts down to it.
World bosses & invasionsA world boss on weekends and Scourge attacks on towns during the week, with a warning 15 minutes before. Bosses grow stronger the more players show up. See when
Character of the weekThe character who did the most last week: hours played, levels, quests, achievements, dungeons. Only characters made before the week began can win. This week's race
Race to 80Seasons where everyone starts a fresh character, and the first to level 80 wins. The race

Out in the world

  • Bots. Many characters you meet are bots. They quest, trade and join groups; invite one to your party if you need a hand.
  • Flying. Our patch lets you fly in zones that normally forbid it. Without the patch you can't, so make sure it is installed.
  • Horde and Alliance. Who is winning the honorable kills is on Horde vs Alliance.
  • Changing your character. Rename, new appearance, race or faction change are paid in game gold from the Characters page, cheapest first.
